TRANSLATION EXPERIENCE

From 2006 till present

Following are some of my largest projects.

Audiovisual content:

• I’ve been localizing all the content for TakeCare’s website into US Latino Spanish. TakeCare is a national initiative that invites people to take care of their whole health, in mind, body, spirit and community.

• I’ve been localizing and providing quality control services for all short films featured in TakeCare, into US Latino Spanish, through Actual Films production company.

• Performed quality control tasks of Spanish subtitles and dubbing scripts for Netflix as a contractor. I was part of the Latin American Spanish Localization pool of linguists. I worked on hundreds of episodes and movies as a quality control specialist from 2015 to 2017.

• Performed the same QC and translation tasks for Netflix content, but through third-party vendor, Plint AB, from 2017 to 2021.

• Localized many films for international film festivals into neutral and regional Spanish varieties. Localized hundreds of dubbing/voiceover scripts of Argentine show and telenovela episodes and documentaries into American English, as well as numerous show episodes and movies into Latin American Spanish, creating subtitle files, timing them and presenting a ready-made video file.

• Localized some ads for the Latino communities in the US, for dubbing for T-Mobile and Minute Maid.

Health and Medicine:

Apart from translating healthcare patient information, I co-translated the following highly technical medical books:

• Neurosurgery Handbook by Greenberg, 7th Edition, published in Spanish in 2013 by Ediciones Journal.

• Clinical Breast Imaging: A Patient Focused Teaching File by Cardeñosa, published in Spanish in 2011 by Ediciones Journal.

• Ultrasound in Gynecology by Timor-Tritsch and Goldstein, published in Spanish in 2010 by Ediciones Journal.

• Body CT (Computed Tomography): Secrets by Strang and Dogra, published in Spanish in 2009 by Ediciones Journal.

Social Sciences and Politics:

• Brennan Center for Justice at NYU School of Law: I have been translating all Spanish content for Brennan en español since 2020.

• 17th Session of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (April 16-27, 2018): I translated the Forum session’s documentation into Spanish as a UN translation contractor.

• People’s Action: I have been translating this a US grassroots politics movement organization’s conferences documentation and other related materials into US Spanish since 2017.

• International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA): I translated their Policy paper on political party assistance, available in my version here.

• NGO Southern Women’s Fund: I translated some website content about women empowerment into American English.

• International Knowledge Network of Women in Politics: I translated some web content about women leadership in undeveloped and developing countries, into Spanish.

Environment:

• The Narrow Edge: A Tiny Bird, an Ancient Crab and an Epic Journey, book by Deborah Cramer about the conservation of shorebirds: I translated this amazing book into Spanish, and was published in January 2019.

• Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources: I translated all official documentation into Spanish for the Commission and its Working Groups for three years.

• International Agreement for the Conservation of Albatross and Petrels: Translated all official documentation into Spanish for the Executive Secretariat and its Working groups for three years.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

• Financial Translation. I devised this course in 2017 for NYU Master’s program in Translation, and I taught it in 2017 and 2018.

• Medical Translation. I devised this course in 2017 for the NYU Master’s program in Translation, and I taught it in 2017 and 2018.

• Audiovisual Translation. I devised this course in 2018 for NYU’s Master’s program in Translation and NYU’s Certificate in Translation. taught it from 2018 to 2021.
